Learn how to bake bread the way it was done a hundred years ago during “Holiday Breads” classes on Nov. 8 and 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Kline Creek Farm in Winfield.
Participants in this hands-on experience will make bread from scratch the old-fashioned way, kneading by hand and baking in the farm’s wood-burning stove. The class will focus on holiday yeast breads from Ireland, Germany, Belgium, and Sweden, recreating the old-world flavors that 1890s farm families would have enjoyed in honor of their roots. Everyone will take home a loaf of their own creation along with instructions and recipes for modern kitchens.
“Holiday Breads” costs $25 per person. Reservations must be made in advance by calling the farm at 630-876-5900.
